Now, I’m running for Nueces County Judge because we need a leader who will work together to create positive change for the Coastal Bend.”

About Connie Scott

Connie Scott will lead Nueces County and the Coastal Bend community confidently forward.

As a resourceful small businesswoman, an experienced policy leader, and a reform advocate committed to holding government accountable, Connie Scott will bring experience and integrity to the job of Nueces County Judge.

Throughout her life, Connie Scott has been guided by the principles of devotion, compassion for others, hard work, personal responsibility, and results.

Serving as the county’s chief budget officer, Connie will bring the same intensity to the job as she did as our State Representative and other leadership roles. As head of our county’s emergency management, Connie will find a balance in our personal liberties, personal responsibility, private property rights and public safety. With years of experience as co-owner of a local construction business, Connie Scott knows how to count on good people, help them do their jobs well, and ensure the job gets done right.

Scott draws from her experiences as a single mother who raised two children on her own for much of her life, and so understands the hardships of working families. And, like many of us, Connie’s strength and optimism comes from the character and perseverance she earned from a difficult upbringing.

In 1998, Scott was recruited to serve as Executive Director of Bay Area Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse. Connie served as a bridge-builder and effective community leader for common-sense lawsuit reform, helping reduce frivolous lawsuits, improve access to health care and bring more doctors to the Coastal Bend. She has served as a board member in a volunteer capacity since 2007. Scott was also elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Regional Transportation Authority in January 2010, after being appointed as a board member in September 2009. During her tenure, Connie initiated and successfully implemented greater transparency and ethics rules—directly leading to more accountability in spending, which taxpayers expect and deserve. In 2010, Connie was elected and served our community as State Representative for District 34. She served on the Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence, Defense and Veteran Affairs, and Local and Consent Calendar Committees. In the Texas House, Connie successfully advocated for lower taxes, reasonable regulations, and fiscal responsibility – the principles which became the foundation of the Texas Economic Miracle of the last decade.
Connie and her husband, Mike Scott, own a heavy industrial and pipeline construction company that has created hundreds of local jobs. Connie and Mike (a Vietnam Veteran) met in 1998 and were married in 2002. Together, they have four daughters and 10 grandchildren. Scott’s additional community leadership, among other roles, includes serving as a member of the Board of the Lexington Museum, President of the Corpus Christi State School Volunteer Services Council, and as a member of River Hills Baptist Church.
Connie Scott believes government needs more bipartisanship and to provide more accountability to taxpayers. As your Nueces County Judge, Connie Scott is committed to …

  • Demanding respect for fellow commissioners, while working across political lines.

    The Issues That Matter

Jobs, Infrastructure and Protecting What Makes Us Special

We must foster an environment that allows our dynamic community to flourish. Our next generation will stay here when they can plant roots, get good jobs and see opportunity that’s in reach. Visitors travel here because we protect what makes Nueces County special.

My philosophy can be summed up in three fundamentals: 1) good jobs 2) growth in the right place and in the right way 3) made possible because we commit to limiting government regulation and cutting red tape.

I have created jobs and raised my children here. I have led efforts to improve access to medical care, increase government transparency, root out corruption, and cut red tape so we can create good, local jobs for our future. I’ll work for common sense solutions to our growth so we protect our natural areas for hunting, fishing, and the beaches that make our County so unique and special.

Small businesses and our infrastructure provide the backbone to our area’s strength as a statewide — even global — economic engine. As County Judge, I will lead Nueces County’s focus on supplying resources to help retain and grow those indispensable small businesses and the jobs they create. I will have a very clear and convincing line of communication with state and Federal officeholders about providing regulatory certainty to the industries that call Nueces County home.

    Safe Neighborhoods, Safe Community

We need strong leadership that will make safe neighborhoods a priority. When we do, families and children thrive, and our schools and small businesses succeed.

The numbers don’t lie. Corpus Christi ranked as one of the most dangerous cities in the country in 2020. Even though we broke from the national trend and the violent crime rate in the metro area did not spike, it’s unacceptable.

We’ve seen what happens when counties make the mistake of ignoring the demands of growth and the safety of residents. I will make retention and recruitment of well-trained cadets for police, fire and EMS a priority because safe neighborhoods and a safe community are fundamental to our future.

Champion for Accountability to YOU, the Taxpayer

You will hear me say it many times: I have led efforts to increase government transparency, root out corruption, and cut red tape. Why? Because government isn’t the solution and we surely can’t let it be the problem. We need more leaders who understand that.

I was elected and served our community as State Representative for District 34. I successfully advocated for lower taxes, reasonable regulations, and fiscal responsibility – the principles which became the foundation of the Texas Economic Miracle of the last decade.

As a businesswoman who has met a payroll and balanced a budget, I know how rising taxes cut into the bottom line of small businesses and family budgets. As your Nueces County Judge, I will hold the line on property taxes.

Government mandates in response to the pandemic have gone too far. We deserve to be able to enjoy the fresh air of our parks and beaches. I will keep our beaches open and balance science, data and personal responsibility to make rational public health decisions.

Working Together for All of Nueces County

I believe government needs more bipartisanship, and respectful discussion about the merits of policy and to ensure we succeed as a county.

I am committed to restoring honesty, integrity and transparency back to the Commissioner’s Court. I will demand respect for fellow commissioners, while working across political lines. And I will represent the whole county, while ensuring strong individual rights and personal responsibility are honored.
